Story #6- The Future of Social Media

Taking this course has taught me a lot about social media and the digital world. Based on what we have researched and learned throughout this course social media is continuously becoming bigger and better. I believe there are many pros and cons of social media and it plays a very important role. According to the, “The Future of Social Media”, “Nearly one-third of the world uses social networks regularly.” If you think about it, people using social networks aren’t just using it for personal enjoyment, but for jobs, recognition, and many more reasons. For example, twitter is being used by famous people, politicians, and athletes as a way to connect to fans or people that just want to stay up to date on certain things. I believe without social media our world would be a very different place. For jobs, most people my age including me use linked in and once we connect with a certain entrepreneur, we then turn to Facebook to search that individual up. Everything we do somehow connects us human beings to a social networking platform. We live in a very innovative time where things are constantly changing and improving regarding technology. After taking this course it made me realize how much social networking is incorporated into our daily lives and without it, we would not be where we are today. In a time like we are in today regarding Covid-19 without social networking platforms we would not be able to know what our loved ones are doing as often, and it makes you realize how important our platforms are. My family and I get together through this networking platform called Zoom, allowing my entire family to communicate together. It gives all of us a sense of comfort in such times of uncertainty.  Going off of that, being on Facebook and Instagram with everyone being so positive posting inspirational quotes helps me personally stay positive and optimistic. All in all, I believe social media is prevalent in the world we live in today because it connects each and every one of us.
